Where to Eat Breakfast in Wimberley, Texas

Wimberley Area Breakfast Map

A colorful dinner plate with a serving of French toast, whipped cream, fruit dish of banana, strawberries and blueberries and two slices of crispy bacon.

I’m not a coffee drinker however; I enjoy caffeine charged frappuccino and get mine at Sip on the Square almost daily. I’m not an addict. I forgo the chocolate drizzle and whipped cream.

After I’ve served our own bed and breakfast guests at BellaVida, I zip into town for a quick fix at Sip. I can’t help but notice the multitude of hungry-looking tourists roaming with an expression of, where to find breakfast because it appears the most obvious place, Wimberley Café, has a long wait list.

If you’re in that camp, my heart goes out to you. For one, if you’re with a group, it was already a challenge to get everyone out the door, find a parking space, and now, it appears you may starve to death. If you want something hearty like bacon and eggs within walking distance of the Wimberley Square, get in line at the Wimberley Café.

There are three coffee shops that offer a variety of muffins, cereal, scones, and perhaps oatmeal: Sip on the Square, Cactus Coffee, and Cypress Creek Coffee House. Cactus Coffee offers the most variety, most unique, and delicious selections.

If you’re willing to leave the Wimberley Square (or you haven’t headed out yet), starting out from the Square, going north on Highway 12 is Sugar Shack Bakery on River Road. There you’ll find coffee, fresh baked goods, and something with protein. The same goes for Blanco Brew further down on Highway 12, a shared parking lot with Brookshire Brothers grocery store, which also has a café counter. (If you’re a late riser, you may be just in time for fried chicken, or a burger made to order from the grill.)

Wimberley has as many breakfast taco places as it has coffee shops. And of all places to find fresh made tacos is the Diamond Shamrock gas station on Highway 12, across from the HEB grocery store. What kind of taco you want at Diamond Shamrock may just be your biggest decision of the day because they have about 15 different options. You can also get a frozen margarita! When Wimberley’s motto is “a little piece of heaven” they aren’t kidding!

The traffic light at the Ace Hardware is where FM 2325 and Highway 12 converge into Highway 12 when headed south toward the Wimberley Square and it “splits” if you’re headed north. In that case, veer to the left at the light toward Blanco and about a mile down on the left is Mima’s (closed Sundays) popular for breakfast tacos and Tex-Mex, or, another short distance on the left is Tacos El Tizon, authentic Mexican food, known for their street tacos.

Huge screened porch with large farmhouse style table and chairs set for a meal with beautiful dishes.

Approximately six miles out FM 2325 is BellaVida Bed and Breakfast, a multi- course breakfast is included in the stay and is served at 9:00 am. For those not lodging at BellaVida, reservations are accepted to join guests around the breakfast table. Please make Reservations should no later than 5:00 pm the day before. It’s a set menu, not a made-to-order and there are no margaritas, though a mimosa might be an option. Juice and a variety of hot teas and coffee is available at the beverage station. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the screened porch, weather permitting, which is most of the time. Check out our breakfast photos here.
